I went to have some college then had my family. Now doing my best to get back into college is a mess and nightmare. So dont know what to do as of now. I would like to get my degree in several areas.

RJ, I'm getting my degree in Visual Arts/Journalism!! I'm currently writing for my school magazine. Good for you for going to get your MA. You can never have too much education.

Wolf, don't give up! It is never too late to go back to school. Schools have night classes and online classes now. I know every class isn't online, but it does help. What do you want a degree in?

Well I'm in my 2nd year of college now.

Good luck to each of you. One of my daughters is back in college. She goes 2 nights a week. Works as a preschool teacher during the week. So this all keeps her quite busy. Very proud of her.

Rockingirl, how do you like the journalism program where you are? I'm here in FL and love it.

Rockingal, all the best for the rest of your college stint. Hope you get your degree soon. I know so many people who are eager to finish college and join the workforce. But there are also so many students who move from undergrad to graduate to doctoral degrees. Online education is excellent option for those who want to do both ? continue their education and work full time simultaneously. One of my friends is currently doing that ? working full time and pursuing an online MBA degree from Independence University (independence.edu). By the time he graduates, he will have enough experience under his belt along with an advanced degree to move ahead in his career.

An untraditional path

I have had a very untraditional education. Lets see- after high school I had a scholarship to study computer science for the summer before I began a 2 year program at Fashion School where I got my Associates in Fashion Marketing. Then I took some liberal arts at a community college and worked for a while. Next I moved to NYC and began my career in high fashion, but also took fashion courses at FIT for fun. I did go back and study political science for 2 years at Hunter college in NYC while working full time, but was offered a career opportunity that I could not refuse...After working in high fashion for 10 years , I started a scuba diving business with husband #1 and then we had our daughter and got divorced. I took a corporate job and got licensed to sell stocks and life insurance and wokred in financial services for 5 years. Then I went back to school- for fun- and studied at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition which is affiliated with Columbia University in NYC. So, my education has been untraditional- mostly due to the loss of my parents at a young age and the need to work full time to support myself. The good news, it has pushed me to be an entrepreneur and go after my passions. I feel like I have a well rounded education and tons of life experience-especially living in NYC for the past 20+years-that itself is an education!
