Getting an RV? Or maybe you have one? Did you ever travel with a trailer tent? Tell us about it :)

Have you hugged your RV today?

Okay, so maybe you haven't hugged your rv or maybe you don't even have one. But I have to know a few things from anyone who is an rv person. How do you keep from hugging your rv and everyone in your rv for the 2 week time frame that you are on the road and still keep your sanity?

My husband has just decided we will be RV'ing soon!

Hi Clara--hope you return to read this answer to your question. I inherited a mini-RV from my father-in-law, and for about eight years enjoyed it immensely. It was a big Dodge chassis, overhead queensize bed, nifty kitchen with a microwave and fridge and oven/stovetop/sink, table with slide-in benches on each side that made into an extra bed, bath with shower. I loved that thing! The farthest my husband and I ever took it was from CA to CO, which means we climbed mountains and braved hailstorms, camped beside rivers, collected local produce and other treats to cook up. More often, we took the RV to campgrounds nearer home--the seashore, mountains, desert.

I had a little mini vacuum cleaner, an electric grill. We had a storage pod installed on top for tools and lounge chairs, strapped bicycles onto the rear, and had a big awning installed on the side to pull out and shade our camp area. I loved the places we could get to--outdoors among pines and cedar, nearly on top of ocean breakers. At night, we'd open the vent above our overhead bed (a comfy place that I supplied with pillows and comforters) and look at the stars.

I hope you come to love RV camping. :-)

P.S. I no longer have that RV because it was old when I inherited it, and finally the cost of maintenance outran itself.
