18 years ago I gave birth via c-section. It should have never been, but my doctor was an idiot. Sadly, I was an underinformed first time new mother and didn't fight him on anything. But that's all another story.

13 years ago both my doctor and the local hospital (a very small rural hospital) refused my request for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarian). Both cited the risk of uterine rupture and death. I don't know if they were just ahead of their time or overly cautious, but I was never sorry for their refusal. The birth was easy and recovery was exceptionally short. If -- God FORBID!! -- I were faced with another birth, I'd jump on the c-secion!
