crimes of passion

Eight years ago I witnessed my Father killing my Mother, he tried to kill himself at the time but failed. He was charged with murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter under the grounds of diminished responsibility. He did 2 years in a secure unit for the mentally ill. I recently saw a television documentary where a similar thing happend but the husband was sent to prison but not for very long. Lots of times when a murder happens the charges are dropped to manslaughter. In court my Dads defence implied my Mother provoked it and she was'nt there to defend herself so her name was blackend. I realise
I can't get my father sentenced again but I would like to see the law changed and don't know how to go about doing it.
I would appreciate any advice on who to contact.

Oh kate... Ican't even begin to imagine having to watch anything of the sort and then live through a trial of both parents.

I'm talking off the cuff and I'm sure there's other folks who may know more of what to do, but I would think seeing if there are any organizations in your area that deal with domestic abuse and homicide would be a start. They may have names of your states representatives that you can contact or they may have information about legislation that may be in the works for this type of thing.

Good luck

Domestic violence.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your mother. What it comes down to is that in this world justice is served in court. But God has a way with people that take away loved ones away. Stay put. God will take care of everything.

Wink Oh my!

Just a note to you. I am sorry for what you have been thru. That is something that should of never happened. I would like to point out that you are a survivor. Thus you are stronger than some of us.

If you wanted to get the laws changed I believe one way to get started is by a petition. You may start one on this so it will bring attention to crimes of passion. That stricter and harsher punishments can be implemented.

There is no punishment that will take away your pain. Yet like janni said things will be taken care of in the Creator's own time. Take strength in that as well as that you are able to share it with us.

I will pray for you...please know there are others who feel like you do.

Please keep on posting..

Wishing you to have a great day!
May you walk in the shadow of the Great Spirit~To help others is a special gift we can either give or take~The more you give the more you receive~
