We had our first round of students come in today at one college. The other college has them coming in tomorrow. Wal-Mart is always fun when the new kids come to town, lol.

I'm pretty sure my boss would love year round school considering we're medicaid funded and don't bring in as much during the summer if the kids don't attend our program. I can only imagine the counselor burn-out we'd have if it was year round!

Our kids went back to school last Mon.. had Tues * Wed off because of storm. Went back on Thurs and had Fri off because Fay just wanted to hang around.

So far they are all happy with their teachers and with school itself. The youngest starting K.

Wish all those going back, or starting up new the best of what is yet to be.

In my opinion be it ever so humble <weg> If they would teach to music. The lessons would be learned quicker. Think about how fast wee ones learn those commercials that have a tune to them. Just an observation. / runs off singing School days ...

Really sad to think of the kids going back to school when we haven't even had summer yet. Oops that is not true, I think we have had 5-6 days of sunshine.

PBS you send us a couple of weeks of about 75 degrees and you will be love by all in the NW.

I do have to admit that we have had better weather than Seattle, lots more rain and clouds than us.

BTW don't send the sunny days on Thursdays, but any other time will do (G)

I start school on Sept. 2nd. I have nothing ready. I don't even have a notebook lol. I know its college and I don't need as much as if I was in elementary. I just looked at the calendar and realized I go back next week. Well almost that time to pay for those expensive books.

ooh... Rockin..i don't envy you!! My DD is in AP classes - which means they are college classes taken in highschool for a tiny portion of the cost..and it's still expensive!! Her history book was $129!! grief! We pay $85 a test for her to take the test at teh end of the year, and if she scores a 3 or above, which she did for last years class, she gets to take those credits to college with her. it's a pretty neat program.

KK...I"m originially from Coeur d' Alene, Idaho...soooo... i know all about the weather there.. LOL! I love it here so much more!

ok..no sun on thursdays?!!??!??!?!

Hey PBS, my sister lives in Coeur d'Alene she has been bragging about weather.

I am thinking that up here the kids should go to school when it rains and have the day off when it sun shines.

A friend of mine says we have shy mountains cause they never come out. However when they do it is absolutely breath taking. Olympics to the west, Cascades to the east, Mt. Baker to the north and Mt. Rainier to the south. Those days make you want to rock and roll LOLOL

LOL!! i was born and raised there and didn't move away until 1998!! (so I lived there 28 years!!) The one thing I really really miss is the lake. The one thing I really really DON"T miss is the WINTERS. I love it here, it will snow in the morning and by afternoon, roads are bare. (well, for the most part!)

the kids don't miss the winters either.

LOL!

What kind of work do you do, DLC?

Irish, here in Pine. County, our kids were supposed to start Tuesday (the 26th) and couldn't because of the storm. The girl across the street told me that any other year, she wouldn't have minded, "But why do they have to call school off on the first day of my senior year!?!?" I guess I can understand that.

Rockin Gal, what are you majoring in? I'm starting my senior year (I started back to school after my kids were grown; 2 of 'em are out of the house), and majoring in journalism.

The kids here go back Tuesday (August 19). In FL, they always go back in August, which seems weird to me. I grew up in NY (state, not city) and Connecticut, and always went back the day after Labor Day.
