Spanish parliament legalizes same-sex marriage


Spain became only the fourth country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage.

The bill passed the 350-seat Congress of Deputies by a vote of 187-147.

The Netherlands and Belgium are the only other European countries that allow gay marriage nationwide. Canada's House of Commons passed legislation Tuesday that would legalize gay marriage.

I wish United States would follow Spain and Canada's lead. I think if same sex mariages became legal in the U.S. it would be a matter of time before other coutnries followed.

Hey Minty,

That is exactly what happend with Spain. They chose to not have their vote until after the Canadian Government voted. Hopefully now is a better time for gay marriages to be recognized on a more global scale.
