PBS, I know exactly what you mean about being happy that you know what is happening with your body. When will medical people finally recognize the we are experts on our specific body?

I've spent many years being either ignored or misdiagnosed. That is something that frequently happens when you are "too young" for a particular problem and happens constantly to anyone who has a primary mental health diagnosis. I had been complaining of the exact same bowel problems since I was 17. I was told that I was "too young" "it's all in my head" and had Irritable Bowel Syndrome because of my fibromyalgia diagnosis. It wasn't until Aug 2003 that a doctor finally listened to me and ran the appropriate tests. Surprise, surprise, it was colitis!

It was such a relief to finally know what was happening in my body. I'm still not being treated appropriately, but now I am able to argue from an educated position and have the test results to prove it.

hugs to all who are suffering right now,
brede

((((( PBS )))))) just because ((((((((brede))))))) just because
(((((WA))))))))) thanks you too
(((((((((( everyone ))))))))))))) As I told my kids you need to know your body better than anyone else. When you say I have pain it's in a certain area. ( ex overies) The dr needs to LISTEN. Your body YOU should know it and they should listen. It took years for them to listen to me. INSIST they listen to you. In this day and age no one needs to suffer unnecessarily.
Take care. ((((((((( Hugs ))))))))))))

I view medicine as a consumer driven profession. I hire the doctor and his staff and I will fire them if needed. I also write them a letter addressing my specific complaints. I will be doing that again very shortly as my gastro doc's staff are rude, arrogant and will not provide me with detailed information on my tests. The nurse practitioner put me on prednisone and a Rx strength dose of potassium without giving me any information about the meds. Fortunately I have two very good pharmacists that always take the time to go over each new medication with me.

Get well soon!!! As my surgeon always says "blood clots can kill you!" So walk as soon and as much as possible. If you are sitting for any length of time, keep your blood flowing to your legs by wiggling your feet and just general squirming. When I've been in the hospital and needed more surgery, the days after the surgery are easy. And I usually go home the next day.

Here's to a speedy recovery!

brede brings up a good point. I remember when I got my pre-hyst orientation, one of the caveats in the video was to absolutely NOT cross one ankle over the other when lying on your back. While this may seem comfortable, it can interfere with circulation to the leg underneath.

Also, applying slight pressure to a pillow pressed lightly against your tummy as you get up from bed or from a seated position may also help.

{{{ pbs }}} wishing you the best, hon!

Well.... I'm certainly glad that is overwith! So far I still have pain ... but it is manageable and I am told it will leave soon.

They found several polyps and removed them...and sent out for pathology tests...won't have results from that until the 14th. She took pictures, but they showed them to me right after I woke up...so I can't remember them...*pout*.

It's difficult for me to sit in a chair for long periods of time...and of course I feel better laying down than I do anywhere else.

I did get reprimanded for crossing my legs while laying down!! LOL! I thought..hmmm.... brede and WA must have called and told em that I like to do that! giggle!

Anyway....I'm back....for the most part...a bit spacey...a lot tired..but present and accounted for!

LOL @ crossing legs

{{{ PBS }}} glad to hear you are home and on the mend. Be a pampered princess for a while and get others to take care of you. It will be over all too soon -- make the most of this time to rest and heal. Don't overdo!
