Tupi are you going to go see Beauty and the Beast at the Imax? I think it is at MOSI now.

I have so many favorites... one of my very favorite favorites is The English Patient. The story, the scenery, the acting, it's all so perfect. Other favorites listed in no particular order include:

Au Revoir Les Enfants
Life is Beautiful
Say Anything (the director's cut was just released on DVD and it's awesome! Well worth owning!)
Chocolat
A Fish Called Wanda
Truly, Madly, Deeply
Like Water For Chocolate
Forest Gump
Cast Away
Remains of the Day
Howards End
Ethan Frome
The House of Mirth
Anniversary Party
Princess Caraboo
Emma
Shakespeare in Love
Sense and Sensibility
Brothers McMullen
No Looking Back
She's the One
The Big Lebowski
Raising Arizona

And that's just to start.. and I'm now understanding why I never get anything done around the house.<g>

I detect a Coen Brothers fan!

What did you think of O Brother! Addie?

(And I don't see Beautiful Thing on that list....;-)

I really liked O Brother! The music, the story, the acting; all were great and a lot of fun. I just ran out of steam towards the end of my list.<g>

Isn't it weird how a movie can be a favorite, then you think about an actor in that movie (or the director or writer), which leads to another movie which has another actor or director or writer which leads to.. well, you get the idea.<g>

Ain't life a trip?<g>

And, Beautiful Thing! That needs to be on my list too.<g>

There are also many movies which, although excellent, can't be on my list because they upset me so much I can never watch them again. Fight Club was one of those films. I know that it was just doing its job, but it did it too well and upset me horribly. The Piano was another, as well as Blue Velvet, American Beauty and The Ice Storm.

Oh, I love Fight Club. Yes, I know, I'm a freak.

I'll have to do an updated favorite films list...

I really like Benny and Joon! And, What's Eating Gilbert Grape? And, since we're in Depp mode, Edward Scissorhands!

Naw Liam, you're not a freak. We all have different "disturbance" lines. That one just happened to cross mine.

So many movies, so little time.<g>

Edward Scissorhands is great. I have the DVD of that one.

I find Fight Club disturbing (I can't watch most of the fight scenes); but man, oh, man...Edward Norton raises my blood pressure...LOL

I have some other, older, favorites. "Four Seasons" is one of them. I just love the way the movie is laid out, so to speak...like a novel.

Sleepless in Seattle is another favorite.

I like Funny Farm because it's sort of the story of my life.

I gotta say The Rookie is a new favorite.

I love Sleepless in Seattle. And if you're really a dork like me, you can make it into a double feature. First I watch An Affair to Remember and then follow it up with Sleepless in Seattle.<g>

Annie Hall!!! Another favorite!

Favorite quirky, disturbing, borderline weird or plain weird movies:

Boxing Helena
Usual Suspects
Fargo
Goodfellas
The Royal Tennenbaums
Serial Mom
Pink Flamingos
Silence of the Lambs
The Apostle
The Tingler (the first horror movie I ever saw in the theatre that scared me to death. I was 9 years old and it's still a favorite. Vincent Price at his most horrific and director William Castle at his most creative. First allusion to the hallucinogenic drug LSD on a screen before it became illegal.)
