Road Blog: Barack in Espanola, New Mexico

"Sorry we're late. I think the bus driver got caught up in the scenery." -- Barack Obama
This afternoon Barack visited Española, a small town in Southern Rio Arriba County. DPS Deputy Fire Chief John Kithen, estimated the crowd to be about 9,500 strong, nearly equaling the town's population of approximately 9,600.
It goes to show you just how concerned folks are about where this country is headed and what the future they will be able to pass on to their children.
New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson called the crowd to action. "We want to register 30,000 people in the next 30 days. Do you think we can do it?" he asked. Then he added, "By the way, are you hot out there? Do you want me to end my speech pretty soon?"
It was a hot day in this beautiful spot nestled in between the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo mountains, but people stood patiently, wanting to hear real solutions to the problems they face in their everyday lives.
