Talking Well here is what I think

Well ((((((((WA114)))))))
This is what I think....Motivation is a major part of doing and staying on anything. It can be your job or friendships crafts or anything you are doing to improve yourself or surroundings. I have found out today without trying I have lost another 3 pounds from the 15 I have regained over the summer. Not bad and its a start considering the chaos that is reigning in my home and personal life. Yet I will continue to keep motivated and staying on course with this. I found the article from Winn very informative. Also, that with my current struggle with the weight loss I am doing, that the more support I have the better I do. Yet life and the things that happen that I have no control over i.e. chaos that is reigning in my home I do my best to deal with. To get back to some sort of peace and calmness restored. Yet knowing that I have lost 3 pounds in two weeks is good start huh? I think so.
Have a great day!

Hi, Wolf_Angel

I'm glad you liked the column. Winn has many others on the site as well. Look for them here (just click the button to show them all). His columns (and his book, Be Nice (Or Else!)) are uplifting, funny, and they have really helped me at times when I needed a swift kick. He's really a great motivational coach.

Motivation and joy in life, as you said, are all about striking a balance and recognizing the difference between those things over which you have direct control and letting go of those things you are powerless to change. It's hard sometimes to let go, but knowing when, where and how to choose one's battles really does lead to an improved sense of self, of confidence, and of control.

I'm sending encouragement to anyone who could use a little extra lift today.

And if you need a lot of lift, have you considered an underwire? Ha ha ha ha ha! Just kidding!

I've gotta admit, motivation is hard to keep up at times. I manage to keep walking/running most mornings (I notice it helps me keep somewhat focused throughout the day), but watching what I eat is a little more difficult.

My son, though, who started going to Weight Watchers with me has lost 40 POUNDS since the beginning of the year! I didn't think he'd stick with it, but I'm really proud of him.

wow, WTg rjsfeminist son. WTG rjsfeminist it's hard to keep it going.
What an accomplishment.

Mine is a struggle. Lost and sadly put it back. The only positive thing is when I've gone for my 6 month checkup the weight has been the same. (sigh)

Back to the drawing board for me. Not giving up yet.

Again Kudos to you and your son.

Thank you, Irish.

You're right; it's a real struggle to lose weight, at least for most of us. I had a friend years ago with a weight problem; as she put it, if your doctor or SO tells you to quit drinking or smoking, you can do it and live, but you can't quit eating and live.

Wink Woooohooooo I did it again!

I did it again!

I lost a pant size! Just hope I can keep on with my plan and dont fall off the track. Real easy to do this!!!!

I thought losing weight and you can go back to what you did in the first place that helped keep the weight on you. Well I now realize that isnt the case. Oh well.

Now mind you I am doing this solo with the exception of the support I get from here and the roomies.

I did research and with past experience, I started doing my change of lifestyle plan in stages.

Stage 1---Eat breakfast for a week

First thing you do is skip or miss a meal...Hence you are starving your body! Not good!!!!

Stage 2---Eating a healthy lunch!

I did cottage cheese with fruit yet salads are yummy too.

Stage 3--Start Exercises!

ON monday wednesday and fridays I kick my own rearend. Yet on Tuesday Thursday and Saturdays I do warm ups and a walk.

I eat a regular dinner with my family yet smaller portions and do my best not to eat after 8 p.m.

Plus drink your water 8 eight ounce glasses a day other than coffee or tea.

Snack on fresh fruit and indulge your cravings a little bit (small portions)

And the weight comes off!

Have a great day!

Hi fortunefaded,

As Addie said welcome to WOW, and to the boards. We'd love to have your input.

While here why not check out the chat schedule, or pop into WomensSpace. Some roomies are there most nights around 9PM ET.

We love having newbies join us. Don't forget to bring chocolates, or pizza.

Topics range from this to that, covering most everything.

Hope to see you in chat, and on the boards, Welcome to WOW !

Lightbulb non-guilty desert

I have a major sweet-tooth and I also love chocolate. So until I decided I wanted to lose a little weight for summer, working with Jell-o wasn?t a problem. As you might imagine, being surrounded by sweets might make it hard to curb my carb intake. However, Ive discovered that the sugarfree and the calciyum puddings are really good! I find that I tend to eat unhealthy when I?m in a hurry. So the pudding cups are a great way to get a quick snack, or a wholesome treat during the day without feeling guilty about it. And I?ll get some extra calcium into my diet as well!

Roll Call:

All of us "New Years Resolutioners" should check in and see how we are doing from time to time.

I have lost 23 pounds since Christmas!

I'm doing some home exercises along with major diet modification (smaller portion sizes, less sugar, more vegetables and water...etc).

Anyone else??
