I think I can safely say, taking into account slight fluctuations, I have lost about 4 pounds. I am suffering PMS something wicked and am bloated, but I still have lost 4 pounds. The sweet tooth is raging, however!

Way to go on the four pounds. woohoo.

Ok.. I am here checking the journal.. I can't believe it! I have now lost 20 pounds... and ahem have a few more.. sigh I wish.. to go. lol

Another thing I am so happy about is my hubby brought his cholesterol count 270 down to 165 in 90 days with diet and medication. The medication really helped.

Where Have You All Gone?

I have gained back a couple of pounds. I haven't been able to walk because I was being stalked. :-(

Oh my! Shergo I hope the situation with the stalker has disappeared.

Well I have been on a diet vacation.. kids came to visit. But I maintained my weight.

Lol, a dear friend of mine told me not to worry it's ok to have "a party in your mouth food" time.
Well this party animal is back in it's cage.

I have a certain goal in mind. And hope to reach it by Christmas. Sigh, I will miss real cream cheese...

Talking

Antiana, I think it's okay to slip occasionally!

Thank goodness, the stalking situation has been taken care of. However, I am now in the end of the summer session crunch at school, so I haven't had time to resume walking. I can happily say, nonetheless, that I have lost a few more pounds (10 total so far). I have 30 to go!

By Christmas, we will both be lookin' good!

The scale has been dead stalled, for 3 weeks now. Not too hard to guess why - exercise has been spotty at best. At least it's not going UP!

Kathe, as long as it's not going up, that's good. I find I hold weight more in the summer (heat and bloat, I think), so don't despair!

I'm here...

Ok! I'm here because I have to lose weight, not just for the sake of looking better, but also for my overall health and state of mind.

In the last three years, since my divorce and moving to Texas, I have gained 20 pounds, and I was already a little overweight.

I know what I need to do, but I need the motivation to get started. I don't like what I see in the mirror, I *hate* to shop for clothes, and I feel tired and mad at myself.

I am probably in menopause, I do take estrogen, and other medication for clinical depression. I suppose the medication does play in somewhere, but because of the lack of seratonin in my brain, I do have to take it.

So, here I am, trying to start some sort of diet...

Star4, how well I empathize and sympathize! I gained weight after my divorce (a lot) and have had trouble getting it off. I am also in menopause and on Prozac. I'm not taking estrogen because of my fear about breast cancer, of which my mother died, but I do use soy milk. From what I have read, we are having trouble losing weight (and great ease gaining it) in part because of being in menopause and in part from the antidepressant. The only one I know that doesn't do that is Welbutrin. My office mate had to be put on that because she couldn't take Prozac (two menopausal women in one office!), and she is losing weight, which is wonderful because she has always been a lot overweight. But our doc (we go to the same one) doesn't want to put me on Welbutrin. :-( I was originally taking Serzone, and I gained a LOT of weight, which I dropped quickly after I went off it and was exercising. I am going to start weaning myself off Prozac and then start taking St. John's Wort. And I plan to get back to riding my exercise bike and walking.

Anyway, those are things to consider. I support you completely! Good luck and keep us posted!

It took me 18 days to lose 1 pound. So now 21 pounds gone and hopefully my metabolic rate has stepped up a bit. I don't endorse products... so I am not doing that here. But my son suggested I take a supplement before exercise and am trying that for a month. So we shall see. I will try to be optimistic. :

It's been 2 weeks since my last post here and I have lost another 2 pounds. The supplement I have been taking is only a 1/2 dose. Total now lost 23 lbs. Slow going... but I am happy to say at least I am not at a stand still. I am not exercising enough.. sigh.
Need something to motivate me.
All suggestions will be considered.

Smile Hello

Hi all,
I just wanted to let you all know that I have read all 6 pages in this section. Anyway, I know for me that I have to have some support and a somewhat strict regime to keep on losing weight...sigh Anyhow, I did lose my mother this year and I am having a serious war on regaining my regular sleep patterns.....grrrr I found that when I do have support and things are looking up for me then I am very good at staying on my diet.....However I want to get back on my diet yet I am not even sure of why I havent restarted it yet....Yes I feel rage anger frustration guilt and sense of disappointment when I fall off of the diet wagon....yet I was able to help my mom find the diet that helped her lose 153 pounds in 8 1/2 months...she was a diabetic as well as a few more others yet she lost her weight......I have a twin brother who is obese because of past medical problems with his meds for his epilepsy.....I have a goal though for myself 1.to beat my twin at weight loss 2.go to the pool or gym once a week except one week a month (that has to deal with a meeting that I have monthly).....3.Make time for myself 4.To get back on track and make myself feel good.......I know that sounds like a lot yet I have a full schedule with my kids (Btw I am a stay at home mom) yet I am in dire need of doing something for myself because I am depressed seeing how fat obese overweight whatever you want to call it staring back at me from a mirror or reflection I am not sure of how much I currently weigh but I did lose weight starting at 219 1/2 to 178 all before my mom passed away I know of what~those of you will recognize in my post~you mean when you feel lost or sad or just down and out of it.....Yet I want to share with all of you my ups and downs so that you can see we all have the same things yet different situations and variety of things that stop us from losing the weight.....I know that taking supplements does help especially with a non working thryoid....Also that bananas as yummy as they are are filled with sodium and fat yet good thing of Potassium.....I dont eat enough salt or get enough in my diet hence I kept the baby weight I gained from my two older children's pregnancies...oh duh I did have toxemia with each pregnancy as well....Well I am rattling on and probably telling you all my life story but I really needed to let someone out there know what is in my head and heart....Dont have no one here at home anymore to tell My hubby and kids when I am on the diet are somewhat supportive but not for long so you see my dilemma .......sigh Well I will be checking back in on a regular time frame....Sure is helpful to hear that I am not the only one who is having these problems and such By the way, some of you may know me I will reveal at another time Thank you for listening aka reading Wish you all the best

Can't get this to format right, but you get the idea...

Hi Tala,

Nice to see you posting here! I do have to say, though, that you've been misinformed about bananas. See the nutritional content below:

NUTRITIVE VALUE OF BANANA per 100 grams

<table BORDER=1 CELLPADDING=2>
<tr bgcolor="ffcc00">
<th valign=top><font size=-1>Protein<br>(gm)</th>
<th valign=top><font size=-1>Carbohydrate (gm)</th>
<th valign=top><font size=-1>Fat<br> (gm)</th>
<th valign=top><font size=-1>Potassium<br>(mg)</th>
<th valign=top><font size=-1>Calcium<br>(mg)</th>
<th valign=top><font size=-1>Minerals<br>(gm)</th>
<th valign=top><font size=-1>Energy<br>(k cal)</th></tr>

<tr>
<td valign=top align=center><font size=-1>1.2</font></td>
<td valign=top align=center><font size=-1>27.2</font></td>
<td valign=top align=center><font size=-1>0.3</font></td>
<td valign=top align=center><font size=-1>88</font></td>
<td valign=top align=center><font size=-1>17</font></td>
<td valign=top align=center><font size=-1>0.8</font></td>
<td valign=top align=center><font size=-1>116</font></td></tr>
</table>

As you can see, minimal fat content. On another site, which lists sodium content of foods, it listed bananas as having 1 mg of sodium, also negligible.

Be sure to post your progress, and anything else you'd like!
