I don't always listen to critics SusieB, but in this case I did and stayed away from LXG. While some of the reviews were good, those came from critics with whom I never agree.<g>

I agree with all that's been said about "Pirates." What fun! What eye candy!<g> Rumor has it that Johnny Depp has already signed on for the second one. I hope they don't screw it up!

Another movie I really enjoyed was SeaBiscuit! I've always been a big fan of Jeff Bridges and he was excellent as always! A feel good kind of movie, not the best picture ever made but completely enjoyable with fine performances by all, including the horse. The entire audience was cheering and clapping.

The exciting movie time of the year is about to start. "The Human Stain" with Nicole Kidman opens in September. I love summer but I hate the lack of good movies offered. As the school year starts again (YUCK!), as the weather begins to cool (UGH!) the thought of the award winning movie season holds my depression at bay.

Uh Oh, I just rented Punch Drunk Love and Real Women Have Curves. I just haven't had the chance to watch them yet. I heard that PDL was pretty good. What didn't you like about it?

I think you'll enjoy Real Women Have Curves very much Cinderellen! It's a really important "little" movie. It has a great spirit about it. A real feel good picture.

Personally, Punch Drunk Love is one of my favorite movies, but people either love it or hate it. It is truly a love story and the acting is fantastic, but it's very surreal, strange and odd. Dark humor, poignancy and great pain. Sounding good to you yet?<g> You have to like that sort of thing and you have to be in the right mood too. The writer and director is the same man who wrote and directed Boogie Nights if that helps at all.
