WOW...this movie folder is hoppin'!

Addie, I agree that Matchstick Man, the movie, doesn't seem quite worthy ...Oscar-wise. At least let's hope there is some more powerful competition coming along. I want to see both of the ones you just mentioned.

I CAN'T KEEP UP WITH YOU! I won't even try.

I haven't seen Anger Management either, susie. Let us know!

gsf it's so nice to have you here! It IS great to be able to meet people online, which is where LiamFan and I met....oh....what was it Liam almost 6 years ago?

I'm in the mood to rent something really funny. Side splitting rip roaring funny. Any suggestions? Doesn't have to be Oscar worthy.

Wow, that's a hard one Cinderellen. Your question made me realize that there just aren't that many side splitting rip roaringly funny movies. And of course it depends what mood someone is in. Have you ever watched something and died laughing onl to rewatch it later on and realize it ain't funny at all?

Did you want to rent something new? I can't think of much of anything that's been very funny lately. I thought "Malibu's Most Wanted" was funny, but it may be a geographical thing.

So, something new or something older? Have you ever taken a look at the http://www.afi.com American Film Institute lists? The following is the list of the AFI's 100 funniest American movies.

And as for keeping up with me Cod... Oh my gosh, don't even try! You could never keep up with me because you actually live your life yourself. You don't spend countless hours inside darkened theaters eating endless bags of popcorn (no butter please), living vicariously through the lives of people who don't even exist. You tend to leave your house and stay outside from time to time. In fact, I've heard that you do things that require one to actually stand and walk and perhaps even take a picture or smell a flower or two. Just think of all the time you've wasted traveling location to location, seeing the country and the world when it was as close as your local movie theater.

btw... for those of you looking for a real thrill, purchase one small box of Junior Mints (these can easily be smuggled into the theater in your purse). Eat 1/3 to 1/4 of bag of popcorn (personal preference required to get it just right), add box of Junior Mints, close bag, shake gently (shaking should be done during noisy part of movie so as not to disturb fellow life lacking patrons), and voila! A taste treat sure to please even those with the most discriminating palates.<g>

I thought was interesting was that there were 5 on the list from the 90s and none from the 00s. Seems like we just aren't funny anymore?

I'd add my own personal funny favorites to the list, but I don't want to embarrass myself, lol.

Hey cool {{{{{Cod}}}}}! And after the intervention we can all go to the movies!<g>

{{{{{Cinderellen}}}}} Aw, come on, it'll be fun. So AFI won't pick up our list, what do we care! I'll start with one and see how embarrassed I get at the groans.<g>

A movie that just cracked me up was, "Weekend at Bernies."

ok *Groan*

How about Rat Race? When that dude was trying to explain himself to a crowd of WW II veterans, I thought I'd pee my pants.

Waiting for groans.

ROFL!!! Jon Lovitz! A great scene, he always cracks me up. I liked "Rat Race" and I certainly LOL'd! *double groan*

Lemme see... how about "Bubble Boy?" I thought it was a wonderfully campy, cult classic to be. The critics disagreed.<g> I laughed out loud, so there!

Jon Lovitz!! That's the man!!! I was drawing a blank and was too lazy to look it up on the internet, lol. That scene was absolutely hysterical. My kids and I will still look at each other periodicly, when we're in the car, and say "You... Should... Have... Bought... a... Squirrellllllll!"

Monty Python and the Holy Grail? I think the scene with the black knight guarding the bridge over the ditch is hysterical.

No I don't think so, at least I didn't see it. I did however see it on a 100 worst movies ever list. I wonder who makes these lists?

I liked that movie. I do have to say that I'm not a huge fan of Robin Williams. I really didn't like Mrs. Doubtfire and I feel pretty alone there. Good Morning Vietnam was good though.

Did any of you ever see "The Gods Must Be Crazy" ?

I loved Mrs. Doubtfire. It's one of those movies that, if I come across it on the dial, I have to watch it.

The Gods Must Be Crazy -- saw it a long time ago, wasn't blown away like most people.

And I love The Birdcage, but probably liked La Cages aux Folles better.

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is a good one! Especially the scene with the Gloria Gaynor song..."I Will Survive"
